Ralph E. Oldaker, a devoted farmer and cherished family man passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, at Carroll Place leaving behind a legacy steeped in love for both the land and his beloved family. Born on February 21, 1933 Ralph had a life rich in experiences, deeply rooted in the rural traditions of American farming. He was truly a farmer through and through, embracing the earth with a passion that defined him. Ralph relished the opportunity to attend farm shows across the nation, often accompanied by his family, whose presence filled his heart with joy.
Ralph's zest for life extended beyond the fields. He found pleasure in a multitude of hobbies, each reflecting his adventurous spirit. He adored snowmobiling, delighting in the exhilaration of the great outdoors while hunting, and cherished moments spent camping with his family, where laughter and togetherness were the true treasures of the experience. His love of boating provided countless memories on the water, while his fondness for playing cards, particularly Euchre and Poker, allowed him to engage in friendly competition with loved ones. There was a special joy in sharing his wife's homemade pies and noodles, a testament to the warmth and comfort of family traditions that he held dear.
In his quieter moments, Ralph was content in the presence of his cherished farming equipment and enjoyed dining out, relishing the simple pleasures that life has to offer. He met his devoted wife, Patsy A. Bair Oldaker, at the Lancaster skating rink, a chance encounter that blossomed into a loving partnership spanning 68 years. Their bond was enriched by the gift of family, including their daughter Penny (Jeff) Wagner, granddaughter Ashleigh (T.J.) Sochor, and great-grandchildren Sofina and Chase Sochor. The pride he felt in his close-knit family was one of Ralph's proudest accomplishments, alongside his deep faith and love for the Lord.
Ralph will also be remembered by his sister, Louise Boesiger, as well as several nieces and nephews who carry his memory in their hearts. Predeceased by his parents, E. Howard and Nellie Hagley Oldaker, Ralph's legacy of love and connection endures through the lives he touched.
Ralph served his country with honor during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army, exemplifying a commitment to service that marked his character. He leaves behind a story of resilience, devotion, and profound regard for both his heritage and the opportunities life bestowed upon him.
