Phyllis Anne (Lynn) King 91 of, Ohio passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Fairfield Medical Center. She was born on May 4, 1922 in Thornville, Ohio to the late Helen (Neel) Lynn and F. Stanley Lynn.
She was a graduate of Thornville High School Class of 1940. She married Robert W. King in May of 1940 and they farmed for 44 years. Phyllis participated in musical events starting in her junior high years and continued this career until her recent retirement. She began organist duties at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Thornville in the 40s. She served as organist at St Johns Episcopal Church in Lancaster for three years. Following this she was appointed organist at the First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster and completed 48 years there. Additionally she played for numerous weddings, funerals, and other musical events in Lancaster and surrounding communities. She was a clerk of trustees for Walnut Twp. in Fairfield County and a longtime member of DAR and the Alpha Mothers Club.
Phyllis is survived by daughters and sons-in-law; Jean (Milt) Plunkett of Beavercreek, OH. and Judy (JB) Coffman of Pataskala, OH; daughter-in-law, Linda (Smurr) King of Millersport, OH; six grandchildren; Lynette (King) Jim Mattox, Michael (Sherrill) King, Lori King and friend Brian Harwood, Todd (Michelle) Plunkett, Rob (Megan) Plunkett, Melanie (Plunkett) Ken Pompili, and ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Joan Smock, Norma Ortman; one sister-in-law, Donna McIntre; one cousin, Margaret Mock; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert, (Bob) in 1984 and son, James Lee in 2010 and sister, Peg Fisher.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Matthew Richardson officiating. Burial to follow in Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Thornville, OH. Friends may visit Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the church and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
