Lancaster

Paula McClenathan Sprouse, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 25, 2024 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio. Paula was born on March 15, 1955, and throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her kind spirit and unwavering dedication to helping others.

Paula's career in nursing spanned over 30 years, starting at Riverside Hospital before moving on to Fairfield Medical Center in the surgery department. Her true passion for helping people shone through when she transitioned to working in home health, where she found joy in making a difference in people's lives. Besides her successful nursing career, Paula had a thirst for knowledge and continued her education well past graduating from Marion Pleasant in 1973. She was involved in various activities during her high school years, such as playing the flute in the band and being the editor of her yearbook. Paula pursued further education in nursing and business, exemplifying her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.

Those who knew Paula will always remember her as a dreamer with a vibrant personality. She had a contagious zest for life and was known for being a "Hoot" who loved entertaining friends and family. Paula's social grace and welcoming nature meant she never met a stranger - everyone was greeted with warmth and kindness.

Paula loved to try new gourmet cooking recipes and share them with friends and family. She was an amazing cook who could make anything. She also loved spending her days working in her garden.

Paula enjoyed studying her genealogy and spending countless hours researching her family history. She took pride in documenting this history through rubbings of cemetery monuments and frequent visits to local libraries with her loved ones.  She also enjoyed her puppy "Dolly" and loved all her past four legged friends dearly.

Among Paula's proudest accomplishments were her children: Kristen (Jeremy) Russell, Justin (Rachel) Sprouse, and Lauren (Ben) Levine. She cherished their milestones and achievements, finding immense joy in being a loving mother and role model. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren - Carter, Will, Owen, Hana, Dalton, Baylee - and four great-grandchildren.

Paula McClenathan Sprouse leaves behind cherished memories that will be forever treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Bobbie (Yazel) McClenathan and Paul McClenathan. Paula is survived by her siblings Kim McClenathan and Mark McClenathan.

As we mourn the loss of Paula from our lives, we find solace in the beautiful memories she created and the lives she touched along the way. May she rest in peace knowing that her kindness and compassion live on through all those who were blessed to have known her.

Caring Cremation has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory.
