 Paul W. Cheatwood, age 90, passed away on February 22th, 2024 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, OH. He was born in Gallia County, Ohio, on February 3rd, 1934, He dedicated over 22 years of his life working for the City of Lancaster in the street department. He enjoyed the variety of his job, every day was different.  Throughout his life, Paul touched the hearts of many with his unwavering commitment to his work and his profound love for his family.


Paul's greatest love story was with his wife Leda. They shared a bond that lasted 65 beautiful years—a testament to enduring love that weathered all storms and stood tall through thick and thin. Their love story began with a chance introduction by Leda's friend, leading to a friendship that blossomed into a lifetime of love and companionship.


Outside of work, Paul found solace in nature. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time at Buckeye Lake, regaling loved ones with tales of his fishing escapades—both successful catches and the ones that slipped away. Weekends were reserved for family gatherings and camping trips where he reveled in the company of those closest to him.


Paul is survived by his loving wife Leda F. Cheatwood, daughters Debra Cheatwood and Lisa and her wife Shi Bay, son Kevin (Carrie) Cheatwood, four grandchildren, sister Jewell and her husband Delbert Woodgeard, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Lula Cheatwood, son David Cheatwood, daughter Barbara Blevins, brothers Jerry Cheatwood, Bert Kenneth Cheatwood, George Cheatwood; sisters Dorothy Cheatwood, Joann McLin, Ruthanna Driscoll, Alice Littleton, and Nancy Moore.


Family and friends are invited to gather to bid farewell to Paul W. Cheatwood at Grandview Cemetery in Bremen for a graveside service on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 at 1PM where he will be laid to rest by the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. Let us remember him not with tears but with smiles for a life well-lived and a legacy of love that will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
