Paul E. Van Camp, age 82 of Lancaster, Ohio, died September 18th, 2015 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born to the late Lester and Faye Doyle Van Camp on July 22nd, 1933 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Paul attended the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. Paul and his wife Evelyn have been residents of Lancaster since 1964. They moved to Lancaster to acquire the Culligan water conditioning business. He began his Culligan career as a salesperson at Culligan in Muncie, Indiana in 1957. Over the years he acquired 23 Culligan franchises. Over his 40 years as a Culligan Dealer he was active in numerous trade associations. He was a founding member of the Culligan Dealers Association of North America, serving as its first President for a number of terms. He served on the Culligan Dealers Association of Ohio and was a member of the Water Quality Association. On January 1, 1998 he sold all of his Culligan operations to the Culligan International Company. At that time he owned 8 Culligan stores in Ohio and Indiana.
He was also involved in many other business endeavors such as an automobile rental franchise, a business brokerage, several large manufacturing facilities and gas and oil exploration. In March 2013, he and two other local parties purchased the Lancaster Country Club in order to preserve what they felt was a very important community asset.
Paul was also a business consultant with several companies and active in several organizations. He was a board member of Fairfield National Bank, board member of the Lancaster Bingo Company, past board member serving as treasurer and president of the Lancaster Festival, past board member and treasurer of the Fairfield County Foundation and an officer and board member of several other companies.
He and his wife Evelyn enjoyed a winter residence in Naples, Florida at Quail West Golf and Country Club.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Evelyn Van Camp; son, Bruce (Rebecca) Van Camp; daughter-in-law, Linda Van Camp; grandchildren, Kara (Jason) Steik, Johnathan, Austin, Haley, Kimberly, and Alyssa Van Camp; great-grandchildren; Caleb, Brayden, Alexis, and Paisley Steik, Emerson and Jaxson Van Camp; and several nieces and nephews. His most important priority in life was the happiness of all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his son, Gary Van Camp; brother, Ronald Lee Van Camp; sister, Bonnie Ferrell; and parents. Caring Cremation has taken place through the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME. A memorial service will take place on Friday, September 25th at 3:30 PM, officiated by Rev. Matthew Richardson at the First Presbyterian Church. Family and friends may visit an hour and a half prior to the memorial service at the church on Friday. Memorials can be made in Pauls name to the Fairfield County Foundation, 162 E.
