Opal Taylor

Opal Naomi Taylor, 97, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on July 4th, 2015 at Fairfield Medical Center. She was born in Cheshire, OH, Delaware County on June 14th, 1918 to the late Jonathan Winans and Lois Guennie Busch Davenport.
Opal is survived by her loving family, daughter, Jerry Grandominico (Larry) Turner of Pleasantville; son, Charles Taylor of Buckeye Lake; daughter-in-law, Peggy Taylor; sons-in-law, Tim Poling and Clyde Pinkstock, special grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Edward, and Joseph (Trista) Turner, Scott and Ernest Grandominico, Kendra Grandominico Flowers, Joshua, Charles Jr., and Travis (CJ) Taylor, Maria (John) Shellhase, Melissa Langos, Charles Decker, Crystal and Charlene Pinkstock; 24 great-grandchildren; and five, great-great grandchildren; siblings, Winfred (Mary) Davenport of Delaware, OH and Esther Nelligan of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
Opal is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest John Grandominico, who died during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge; husband Lawrence H. Taylor Sr.; sons, Ernest Jack Grandominico, Lawrence H. Taylor Jr., and Jonathan Wesley Taylor; daughters, Ramona Kay Poling, and Elizabeth Sue Pinkstock; daughter-in-law, Judy Taylor; and grandson, Larry Taylor; eight brothers; four sisters; and her “best of friends” Ella Mae Turner.
Opal was a graduate of Berlin High School class of 1936. She was the best of homemakers, and in her later years worked with her friends, Jane and June “The Lunch Bunch” at Mike Clum Auctions. Opal was a member of the Pleasantville United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, Pythian Sisters, VFW Ladies Auxillary, and a member of the Gold Star Wifes of America. Opal was an avid reader and bowler, who especially loved playing euchre with her family. She worked very hard always helping out her friends and family. She was happy to bake the “The Best Apple Pie” while singing her favorite songs, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”
Thank you God, for giving us the best of loving mothers, and grandmothers. We are grateful for her love, her special lessons on life, and for all the wonderful fun times we shared. We will forever love and miss her everyday.

A funeral service will be held at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 207 S. Main St. Baltimore, OH on Thursday, July 9th at 2PM, officiated by Pastor Timothy Poling. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may visit one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be given to The Pleasantville United Methodist Church P.O.
