Opal Ashworth

Opal B. Ashworth, 90, died peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at The Pickering House.

On March 25, 1925, she was born in Lancaster, Ohio, to the late Milford and Bessie Brown.

Opal was married twice, Roderick Bradford was her loving husband for 15 years until his death and later she was lovingly married to Charles D. Ashworth for 26 years until his death.

She loved taking care of family and pets, traveling, gardening and was an avid reader. She was a member of Olivedale Senior Citizens Center and a lifelong member of The First United Methodist Church.

Opal is survived by her Sister, Linda (Robert) Dittoe; Sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Brown, Sandra Brown, and Audrey Brown; Niece, Susan (Gary) Grover and Niece, Rebecca (Allen) Anderson. Opal also had many other nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews that she dearly loved. Opal is also survived by her companion dog, Sushi.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, Opal was preceded in death by nine siblings: Clara Brown, Melvin Brown, Weldon Brown, Jack Brown, Milford Brown Jr., William Brown, John Brown, Mary Catherine Stump and Gary Brown.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Rev. Cheryl Foulk officiating. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Caring Cremation® has taken place.

In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in memory of Opal to the Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
