Norma J. Straten passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 15th.
She retired from the Lancaster City Schools as a Managing Cook after 25 years of service. She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, fishing and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes. She is a member of the 6th Avenue United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, David L. Straten; her daughter and son in law, Marsha and John Hunt of Lancaster, Ohio; and her son and daughter in law, David Jr. and Cindy of Rockford, Michigan. Also, her grandsons, Greg Helser II of Lancaster, Ohio, David Lamar Straten III of Columbus, Ohio, and Nathan Straten of Centralia, Washington. She is also survived by her sister, Sandy McAfee of Greenfield, Indiana; sister and brother in law, Joy and Chuck Roy of Wilmington, North Carolina; and brother in law, Bob Dittoe of Lancaster, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Homer and Martha Mills; her brother, Homer Mills; and sister, Audrey Dittoe preceded Norma in death.
Visitation is Wednesday evening, 9/23 from 6pm to 8pm at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Funeral service is Thursday morning, 9/24 at 11am at the 6th Avenue United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Ohio with Pastor Rick Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Rose Cemetery, Lancaster.
