Nial "Herb" Scott

Nial “Herb” Scott, 74, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Pickering House.

With his smile and sense of humor, no one was a stranger to Herb. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed singing; painting; hunting, fishing, and the outdoors; the Ohio State Buckeyes; NASCAR; and baseball.

Herb is survived by his children, Russell Jay (Theresa) Busic of Hilliard, Gerald (Penny) Swackhamer of Springfield, Randy Swackhamer of Lancaster, Kevin (Patty) Swackhamer of Lancaster, and Gregory (Angela) Scott of Lancaster; sixteen grandchildren; special granddaughter, Jodie Swackhamer; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Ann Dodson of Norwich, Patty (Carl) Bankes of New Lexington, and Janet (Jeff) Graf of Lancaster; brothers, John (Dee) Scott of Columbus; and Jimmie and George Pettit; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Herb was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Betty Ann Scott; parents, Stanley Scott and Pauline Pettit; and sister, Linda Clark.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday in the FRANK E. SMTIH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster. Burial will follow in Zion Church Cemetery, Portersville, Ohio. Family and friends may visit from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
