Nelson S. Groves, 91, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on May 16, 2015. He was born in Belmont, Ohio on January 10, 1924.
An avid outdoorsman, he was an acclaimed grouse hunter and a charter member of the Fairfield County Bird Dog Club. Nelson owned and operated Fashion and Vanity Cleaners for 25 years.
Always a humble and optimistic man, Nelson was always capable of finding the light when the world seemed dark. Nelsons mentorship spanned generations and extended to friends and acquaintances both new and old. His greatest pleasure was sharing his passion for hunting and the outdoors with his family and friends. He was a person that many would be proud to be, but who many more were proud to know.
He leaves behind his loving and caring wife of 18 years, Deana Groves. He is also survived by his daughters, Beverly Bonham and Nancy (Bob) Lovell; his grandchildren, Allen Bonham, Jason Bonham, Laura (Andy) Specht, Melissa (Matt Dennewitz) Williams, Nick Williams, Bobby (Jessica) Lovell, and Tyler Lovell; his great grandchildren, Bella and Brantley; and sons-in-law, Scott Williams and Neil Bonham.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine A. Groves; his daughter, Janet Kay Williams; and his grandson, Benjamin Lee Williams.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.
