Ned A. Hinton

October 30, 1936 - July 28, 2023

Ned A. Hinton, 86, peacefully passed away on July 28, 2023 at his home.  He was known as “your friendly Bremen banker” and will be dearly missed.

Ned is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Michael) Fosnaugh.  He will also be fondly remembered by his grandson Shawn (Katie) Fosnaugh of Grandview Heights, Ohio, granddaughter Jaymie (Kenny) Harlan of Canal Winchester, Ohio, twin sister Nancy Maxson of Laurelville, Ohio, brother-in-law the Honorable Thomas Michael Rose (Terri) of Xenia, Ohio, and his great-grandchildren Payton Rose Harlan, Connor Franklin Harlan, and Mara Louise Fosnaugh.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Laura L. Hinton, and his parents Arthur and Thelma Hinton.

Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, he grew up in Laurelville, Ohio.  He attended Otterbein University in Westerville and graduated in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree.

Ned loved his job at the Friendly Bremen Bank.  In banking since 1960, he was a dedicated loan officer and helped local businesses and families realize their dreams.  He built his career around maintaining long lasting relationships with his customers until his retirement in 2008 as a Senior Vice President in Commercial Lending.

One of Ned’s favorite pastimes was traveling.  Ned and Laura took trips at every opportunity, leading them all over the United States.  From eating oysters in New Orleans to cruising in Alaska, Ned loved the adventure and making new friends.  In addition to traveling, Ned loved fishing at Lake Erie, making the short drive to his farm in Laurelville to see the progress of his crops, and supporting his favorite local restaurants where he never knew a stranger.  Ned was an avid Ohio State football and TBDBITL fan.  He was known to attend all games with Laura and their Buckeye Booster Club friends.  Ned was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Lancaster Kiwanis Club for 39 years.  He was also a member of the Aladdin Shrine for 60 years.

The greatest moments of Ned’s life were spent with his dear friends and adoring family.  He was so proud of his daughter, loved to spoil his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cherished the love and life created with his wife.
