Nancy Kay Gardner, age 71 of Lancaster, passed away at the Fairfield Medical Center on Wednesday, March the 30th, 2011. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a 1957 graduate of Bremen High School. She retired from Bob McDorman Chevrolet after 16 years; she was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church, a past member of the Chancel Choir, a past church youth group counselor for many years, was a past Cub Scout Den Mother, a member of Olive Dale Senior Center, made and taught macramé for many years, and was a past owner of the Fairfield County Airport.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Robbin S. Gardner of Lancaster; daughter, Rachael L. Gardner of Lancaster; son, Gregory R. (Elizabeth) Gardner of Hebron; grandson, Evan Gardner; granddaughter, Robyn Gardner both of Hebron; sisters, Carolyn (Jerry) Klobusnik, of Rushville and Debra (Will) Rodgers of FL; brothers, Thomas (Linda) Azbell of Columbus, Michael (Mickey) Azbell of FL, Darrell (Jezebel) Azbell of Lancaster, and Tim Azbell of SC; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father E. Lucille and Clyde McCandlish; stepfather, Jack Azbell, and second stepfather, Howard Reed; and brother, Jack Azbell.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April the 30th at the First United Methodist Church at 11AM, officiated by Reverend Robert McDowell. Family and friends may visit from 9 AM until 11 AM prior to the service at the church. Caring Cremation has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home.
