Muguette Halle McClenaghan, 94, of Lancaster, OH, died peacefully Tuesday morning, September 3, 2013, at her home. She was born September 24, 1918 in Chisholm, ME to the late Onesime and Valentine LaPierre Halle and was a Lancaster resident since 1947. She was a member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Fairfield Medical Center Twig 5, Lady Elks, and a Lancaster Georgian Museum volunteer. Muguette served 14 years as Executive Director of United Cerebral Palsy of Lancaster, was an honorary trustee and in 1978, honored by United Cerebral Palsy of Ohio with the Arthur S. Hill Professional Service Award. She received the Beta Sigma Pi Distinguished Service First Lady of the Year Award, as well as named Ohio University Hayes Hall Mother of the Year in 1968. Throughout her life she remained an avid bridge player, loved to entertain and for twenty-five winters following her retirement, eagerly seized every opportunity to engage in conversational French, her first language, with fellow snowbirds in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Muguette is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles W. (Salty) McClenaghan; daughter Suzanne M. (Paul F.) Harrington, Colleyville, TX; and sons Charles H. (Bobbe) McClenaghan, Dublin, OH; Robert W. McClenaghan, Rushville, OH; and Richard W. (Victoria) McClenaghan, Westerville, OH; grandchildren Keeton W. Harrington and Paul F. Harrington II; Sean P. and Molly Ann McClenaghan; Walter H. McClenaghan and great-granddaughter Halle K. Harrington; sister Murielle (Daniel) Chiacchia of Nashua, NH, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by brothers Humbert, Gerard, Roger, Joseph Gaston, Leo and sisters Anne-Marie, Dolores and Yolande.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, Lancaster with Fr. Craig Eilerman as celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairfield Center for disAbilities and Cerebral Palsy, Lancaster or charity of choice.
