Michael Shannon

Michael Richard Shannon passed away July 24, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born November 22, 1947 to Betty and Joe Shannon in Lancaster Ohio. He spent 30 wonderful years married to our mother Denise Hampson Shannon who passed away in 2007. Love found it’s way back to our dad again through his dear friend Jeannie Heath, for which we will forever be thankful.

Mike is survived by his daughters, Wendy Shannon Garbrandt, her husband Mike, and his daughter Mollie Shannon. In addition to his daughters he will be dearly missed by his two beloved grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” and Michael Joseph Garbrandt, and a new grandchild due to arrive in January. He is also survived by two brothers, Robert (Mary) Shannon, and Patrick Shannon, and cousins Lance Shannon and Amy Shannon. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted lifelong friends.

Our dad shared with us his love of many things including weak beer, deviled eggs, ketchup but not tomatoes, Bob Seger, The Allman Brothers, the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes, fierce stubbornness, hard work, and honesty, but the one lesson we have appreciated the most is the value of loyal friendship. We ask you to join us in remembering our dad in way he would have liked the most, gathered with good friends over a good beer. We ask that you spend the afternoon celebrating a life well lived at the Valley View Golf Course Shelter House 1410 George Road, Lancaster, Ohio Saturday, July 28th from 2 to 5pm.
