Michael Griley

Michael A. Griley, age 80, resident of Lancaster, OH and Molokai, Hawaii, passed away peacefully at the Select Specialty Hospital in Newark on Oct 18th, 2015. He was born in Lancaster on July 13th, 1935 to the late Richard and Gladys Wyman Griley. Michael graduated from Mercersburg Academy and Denison University, where he pledged Phi Gamma Delta and was on the Varsity Golf Team. He attended Law School at Ohio State and worked as a stock broker for Haden-Miller, Dempsey Tegler, and Dean Witter. For a short time, he lived in Atlanta where he opened a Flower and Plant store. Michael was a great golfer and a long time member of the Elks Club, Lancaster Country Club, Rocky Fork Hunt Club, and the Columbus Club. He loved both the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Michael is survived by his four children, Kristine T. (Steven Hedaria) Griley, Michael A. (Wendy) Griley Jr., Rowland G. Griley, and Richard F. (Kimberly) Griley II; step-children, Michael Ebersbach, Terri Ebersbach, and Keith Ebersbach; seven grandchildren; brother, Theodore (Dori) Griley, and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary P. Eberbach Griley and his parents.
Caring Cremation™ has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, on Monday from 5PM until 7PM. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday at 11AM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 134 N Broad St., Lancaster, officiated by Rev. G. William Pursley.
