Michael J. Augustus, 58, passed Friday, August 5th at home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Belinda, his son Kenny, daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Brett Ankney, and his one and only grandchild, Jenna Marie. He often doubted he would be given the time to meet Jenna, but she quickly became the light of his life, and the reason he woke up every morning to grandpa kisses. There is no greater pain than burying a child, but Mike is survived by both his parents, Jack and Joyce Augustus, mother and father-in-law Frances and David Carter, siblings Jim Augustus, and Mary and Tim Wiley, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Mike graduated from Eastmoor High School in 1976. He worked as a construction foreman with Dublin Building Systems for nearly 30 years until his cancer battle encouraged him to prioritize his family and health. Mike believed charity began at home, and had a heart for giving back to his fellow neighbors including volunteering for many years to make Hide-A-Way Hills a better community. His true passion however, was taking his Harley out for some wind therapy, and he loved riding for a cause!
Funeral service for Michael will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. Columbus St, Lancaster, OH 43130. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Caring Cremation will follow the services.
Though not a veteran, Mike had a heart for veterans and their sacrifices. Mike would have preferred you pass on the flowers, and please consider donating to your local veterans support group.
