Melissa Dawn Montag 36 of Centerville, Ohio formerly of Lancaster, Ohio returned to her heavenly father on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
She is survived by her parents, Margie Weinstiger Montag and Kenneth (Connie) Montag; brother, Chris (Dawn) Mulliss; nephews, Kevin and Charlie; aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends, John Steiding and Ben Stewart. Melissa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur E. and Mary I. Weinstiger and Anna F. Montag.
Melissa was a 1993 graduate of Lancaster High School where she was a member of the marching band and Lancaster Percussion Ensemble. She earned Bachelor Degrees in mathematics and in theatre from Wittenberg University where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and R. M. B. and was completing her Master Degree in directing at Roosevelt University (Chicago) this summer. Melissa taught at Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio. She was a dedicated teacher and a compassionate advocate for her students. Recently, she and her students were honored to be invited to attend the American High School Theatre Festival, a theatre educational tour to England and Scotland, where her students would have performed before an international audience. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130. Burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Friends may visit Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
