Mary Jo Dickerson

Mary Jo Dickerson, age 97, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Fairfield Medical Center.

She was born in Lancaster, Ohio on October 13, 1920. Preceding her in death were her parents, Paul and Martha Cook, daughter, Sallie Jo Dickerson, spouse, Richard Troy Dickerson and close cousin, Nick Wolfinger.

She is survived by her son Richard (Marcia) Dickerson of Southport, NC, son James (Betsy) Dickerson of Lancaster, OH, grandchildren Clint Dickerson and his children Cade and Chace, Richard (Kelly) Dickerson and their children Phoebe, Trip and Tate, Jeb (Tessie) Dickerson and their children, Jack and Charlie, all residing in California, cousins Patricia Gilmore, Jean Taylor and Norma Franco. She loved her step-grandson, Bill (April) Flowers and step-greatgrandchildren Emily Flowers, Haley Flowers and James Flowers.

Mary Jo retired as a secretary for North End Press, and enjoyed her retirement with best friends, Wilma Wilkins and Marge Rockey.

Blessed with a gentle spirit, a lifetime of good health, and a deep abiding love for family, Mary Jo lived at the home of Jim and Betsy Dickerson who were devoted to her care and companionship for the last 13 years of her life.

She was a steadfast and lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was thankful for the friendship with church member, Linda Palmer.

Per her wishes, Caring Cremation™ by Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and her ashes will be interred alongside her parents and daughter at the Maple Grove Cemetery, following a graveside service at 11:00 AM on October 12, 2018. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 105 E. Mulberry Street, Lancaster, OH 43130.
