Marvene Messerly Blume, age 89, of Lancaster, died April 21st, 2014 at her residence.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Plant, David Blume, and Gregory Blume all of Lancaster; grandchildren, Stephanie Plant of Worthington; brother, Robert (Roslyn) Messerly of Massillon; sister-in-law, Martha Dupler Messerly; and niece, Marjorie Blume (Darl) Derr of Logan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter F. Blume; and brother, Neol Messerly.She was born on Nov 7th, 1924 in Berne Twp to Neol and Ida Mae Loy Messerly. She was an OU graduate. She was a Columbus Public City teacher; she was the first Director and one of the first Teachers at Forest Rose School; she was inducted into the DD hall of Fame in 2012 and received the Hartung Award in 2010. She was a past member of Twig 7 and initiated the tree of light project.
A service will take place on Thursday at 10:30AM at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, officiated by The Rev. Heinz Raidel. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call from 4PM until 8PM Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
