Martha ""Marti"" Gilkerson George

Martha "Marti" Allene Cook Gilkerson George went to be with the Lord on May 10th following a brief illness.

Born on May 31, 1934, Martha enjoyed singing and leading choir in her church. While raising her family, she gardened, canned food and hosted many youth parties. Martha worked many years as a secretary where she was appreciated for her exemplary typing skill. In recent years, she very much enjoyed singing with One Voice, a barbershop chorus and beautifying the property where she lived by planting flowers with her dear friend, Betty Powers. Martha will be remembered by those closest to her as being a devoted mother and grandmother.

Martha is survived by her children: Randal Gilkerson (Judy), Becki Gilkerson Cain (Dave), Jana Gilkerson Lamb (Chuck); as well as her sisters, Waneta Cook Grossman, Naomi Cook Cummings (Dean) and Mollie Cook Pool (Phillip). Martha is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Cloyd Cook and Leota Rodman Cook; two sons: James Gilkerson and Gregory Gilkerson; siblings: Ferne Cook Myers, Ralph Cook, Ned Cook and a niece, Joyce Myers Froning.

Caring Cremation® has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. Interment will be at Dutch Hollow Cemetery in Amanda, Ohio. A celebration of Martha's life will be held on Saturday, May 31st at 4:00 p.m. at Life Church, 5550 Lancaster-Newark Road, Pleasantville, Ohio 43148.
