Marilyn Jean Miller, age 61, of Ashland, OH died of acute arthritis December 3rd, 2015 at her parents’ residence. She was born on July 26th, 1954 to her parents James W. and Sarah Taff Miller. Marilyn graduated from Lancaster High School and Ohio Wesleyan University, and obtained her Master’s Degree from Mount St. Mary’s in Education. She retired from Ashland Ohio City Schools after 35 years as a teacher and reading specialist. Marilyn was accomplished in her teaching career, authoring two books, and receiving several awards. Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family, friends, past students, and colleagues.
Marilyn is survived by her parents, James W. and Sarah T. Miller of Lancaster; brothers, Michael J. Miller of Los Angeles, CA and Stephen W. (Kim) Miller of Pickerington; sister, Maryjane (Clark ) Hotaling of Webster Groves, MO, and niece and nephews, Sarah K. Miller, Nicholas W. Miller, and Jackson and Thomas Hotaling.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, W. C. “Boo” and Lucile Deffenbaugh Miller and Charles Leverett and Marvel Beatrice Taff.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11AM at St. Johns’ Episcopal Church officiated by Rev. G. William Pursley. A graveside service will take place at 2PM at Forest Rose Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 4PM until 7PM Monday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster.
