Madeline Utley

Utley Madeline L. Utley, 87, of Lancaster and formerly of Millersport, died July 2, 2014 at the Fairfield Medical Center. She served as clerk-treasurer for the Village of Millersport for more than 27 years, from 1980 to 2007. Utley previously served as the billing clerk for the village Board of Public Affairs for eight years. She moved to Lancaster in 2010. In September 2010, Utley was named grand marshal of the Millersport Lions Sweet Corn Festival Parade in honor of her years of service to the community. She enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles, was an avid bingo player, and a longtime member of the Gabby Gals euchre club in Millersport.

She was born August 27, 1927, to Napoleon and Clara Lafleur in Leominster, Mass. Utley's only sibling, a brother, Robert S. Lafleur, preceded her in death in 1971.

Utley is survived by five daughters and a son, Karen (Richard) Nichols, Pickerington, Ohio, Donna (Michael) Dalisky, Fife, Wash., Rev. Joanne S. Utley, Roscoe, N.Y., Nancy Utley, Delaware, Ohio, Marsha (Scott) Johnson, Columbus, Ohio and Mark Utley, Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Seth (Christina) Nichols, Virginia Beach, Va., Rachel Nichols, Pickerington, Zachary Dalisky, Leipzig, Germany, Matthew Dalisky, Fife, Wash., Jacob Johnson, Columbus, Cpl. Ethan Johnson, Yuma, Ariz. and Timothy Johnson, Columbus; sisters-in-law, Theresa Bourque of Massachusetts, Norene Fleagle, St. Mary's, Ohio, Linda Straits, Lancaster and Sally Walsh of Louisiana; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say "thank you" to all her friends at Reflections and to all her numerous caregivers.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Baltimore, with Pastor Steven Bush officiating. Caring Cremation® will follow the service. Friends and family may call from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Millersport Fire Department, PO Box 404; the American Cancer Society ; or the American Heart Association.
