Lois Sharp

June 22, 1928 — March 5, 2015

Lois Jean Slagle Sharp of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away on March 5th, 2015 at her home after an extended illness. She was born on June 22, 1928 in Amanda, Ohio, daughter of the late James Arthur and Bernice Brunel McDonald Slagle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Paul Edward Sharp of Thurston, Ohio.

Lois was living proof that with determination you can overcome any obstacle, including disabilities and loss. She contracted polio at an early age, but did not let this disabling disease stop her from having a joyful and fulfilling life. Lois was beautiful, adventurous, and enjoyed travel. An award-winning water colorist, Lois was known for her artwork and shared this gift with many. She loved her family, her pets, her friends, and was surrounded by their love throughout her life.

Lois is survived by her children, James Edward Sharp (Margaret), Timothy Paul Sharp, and Tawni Sue Sharp Silcott. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Lauren Sharp and Leslie Sharp; Jason Silcott (Katie) and Jeffrey Silcott; Bradley Sharp (Brandee), Alyssa Sharp (Adam Bozak), and Aaron Sharp (Sarah Kraus); and two great grandchildren, Jack and Charlie Silcott. Her brother, James Arthur Slagle, Jr. (Lucy), also survives her.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church located at 163 E. Wheeling St. in Lancaster. Calling will be held on Friday at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Caring Cremation has taken place with the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home.
