Leroy Meadows 81 of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living, in Lancaster. Leroy was born November 28, 1935 outside Glenwood, West Virginia, the son of the late Tora and Minnie (Holley) Meadows. He attended and graduated from Amanda Schools. Leroy and his wife Judy lived and worked a life of caring for others, including working with troubled youth at Fairfield School for Boys (FSB/BIS), and children at The Fairfield County Children’s Home. After leaving the Children’s Home, Leroy worked for the Lancaster City Schools, retiring as Transportation Supervisor.
Leroy had worked as a Deputy Sheriff, so he enjoyed listening to the police scanner and watching detective shows, with his dog Grace by his side. He always had some electronic device handy to play solitaire.
He had been active in the Masonic Bodies and was truly blessed to have the love and support of a strong church family through his many years of attending church, most recently at Grace Community Christian Fellowship in Lancaster.
Leroy’s love, and commitment to caring for others, will live on through his son, Mark Meadows and Pam Hewitt of Lancaster, and two wonderful grandchildren, Hollie (Keith) Swartz, and Phillip (Megan) Meadows, and great grandchildren Liam, and Kallie Swartz, Peter and “Leroy” Griffin Meadows, a brother-in- law, Wilbur “Butch” DeVault, and a special niece Jackie (Duane) Holland, and other nieces, and nephews.
He enjoyed occasional rides in the country with Mark, Pam, and her mother, Betty Estep. Of course those trips would include a meal and normally some ice cream.
In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his wife Judy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Senior Living in Lancaster. You have made the last couple of years special, with your caring, joking, love and support.
