Leona McCartney Gordon

Leona Mae McCartney Gordon, walked on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Fairfield Medical Center. The immediate cause of death was heart failure during surgery but surely her long and hard life contributed in the end to her passing. Born out of wedlock to Bertha McCartney Finley on February 5, 1934, Leona spent her earliest years as a lonely child neglected at the demand of her stepfather. Her only light in those times were her devoted and loving grandparents, Ercie and Clara McCartney. Her life was spent in tremendously hard work, good humor, and loving devotion to the family she bore and the family she created from beloved friends she held dear.

Leona is survived by her sons, Michael Gordon and Patrick (Barbara) Gordon; non-biological daughter, Kris (Dan) Folz; grandsons, John Gordon, Mathew Gordon, Chance Fell and Dylan Folz.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jack L. Gordon, mother, grandparents, sister, Shirley Finley and many faithful canine companions.

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMB US ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130. Caring Cremation® to follow. Friends may visit Monday from 11-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
