Lawrence Edward Larry VanBibber, passed away on August 28, 2012, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital following a short illness. Lawrence, eldest son of James and Ella (Dowler) VanBibber, was born April 1, 1939, in Haydenville, Ohio. He attended Haydenville and Green Elementary Schools, was a 1957 graduate of Union Furnace High School, and a member of the Church of God. Lawrence was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served with Co. D, 2nd Armored Rifle Battalion, 41st Infantry, 4th Armored Division Hell on Wheels in Neu-Ulm, Germany and was discharged in July 1963 as an SP4.
Lawrences working years were spent in the commercial construction field where he was a member of Carpenters & Joiners Local #200 in Columbus, Ohio. He spent the years working as a carpenter and later as a Field Superintendant and Estimator with John W. Galbreath and Co. and later Elford, Inc. He was a co-owner of Corporate Construction Services until his retirement in June 2001.
During their retirement years, Lawrence and his wife, Rose, spent their leisure time traveling the country. Lawrence and Rose found great enjoyment in their motorcycle rides to the Ozark and Smoky Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway, and his favorite spot, Maggie Valley, NC, sometimes with their bike buddies and often alone. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing throughout his lifetime.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rose Marie (Goldsberry) VanBibber; son, Steve (Danielle Dani Flowers) VanBibber of Amanda, Ohio; daughter, Sherri Thompson of Baltimore, Ohio; granddaughter, Ashley Marie VanBibber; grandson, Billy Edward Brown; brothers, Dan VanBibber of Warren, MI and James VanBibber of Tiffin, Ohio; half-sisters, Lisa Stotts and Brenda Smith of Zanesville, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his sister, Gloria and brother, Richard.
Arrangements are in the care of FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster, Ohio where funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday, September 1st with Pastor Mark Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery, Logan, Ohio. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, August 31st at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service.
