Lawrence Steele

Lawrence Dwight Steele 93 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Fairfield Medical Center.
He was born in St. Albans, WV on April 5, 1922 to the late Dow and Pearle Steele. He Graduated from Nitro High School in Nitro, WV Class of 1941 and a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in economics.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps. as a bomber pilot with the 380th Bomb Group, Flying Circus in the South Pacific, stationed in Australia.
Lawrence retired from Macy’s Department Store in 1981, a member of East Livingston Baptist Church in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, avid golfer and belonged to the Kanawha Masonic Lodge #20 in Charleston, WV.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Madelyn M. Steele; son, Lawrence Mark Steele; daughters, Marcia (Michael) Miller; Sonya (Russell) Shanley-Miller; grandchildren, Evan Lawrence (Angie) Shanley and Leigha (Corey) Philips; great-grandchildren, Titan, Jett and Colt Shanley; step-grandchildren, Gwen Philips, Meghan Makley and David West.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Marilyn West Steele; sisters, June Steele, Geraldine Steele and Jeanne Harbach.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 1 pm in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Pastor Roger Hale officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit Saturday from 11-1 pm at the funeral home.
