Laverne L. Jordan Harper 74 of Lancaster, Ohio, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Fairfield Medical Center.
She was born on June 2, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert and Helen Jordan. She served 31/2 years in the US Army in Alabama, Maryland and Okinawa. She was a retired accountant for Ross Laboratories in Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church and Campers on Mission.
Laverne is survived by her husband of 25 years, David Harper; daughters, Deborah (Ernie) Stephens of Cashmere, Washington and Valerie Messerknecht of Lancaster, Ohio; sons, Richard (Dawn) Harper of Westerville, Ohio and Michael Harper of Spanish Fork, Utah; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces Christine Starnes and Deborah Phillips; nephew, Michael Jordan all of Alabama; aunt and uncle, Mable and Robert Christell of Lancaster, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carrie Roberts, parents, and brother, Curtis Jordan.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Pastor Jim Green officiating. Burial to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail conducting military rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
