Kenneth James Ramsey, 73 of Lancaster, Ohio, formerly of Ramsey, West Virginia, passed away peacefully Monday, May 9, 2016, with family by his side after a hard fought battle with Cancer.
He retired from Ralston Foods and had previously worked for 19 years at Premix. Ken was an active member of Maple Street United Methodist Church. He was very involved in volunteering at the Free Store there. At home he enjoyed keeping his lawn tidy and all kinds of gardening. Ken served as a Sergeant in the US Army. Ken will always be remembered as a generous and caring man with an ornery streak.
Survived by his wife of 41 years, Arlene Ramsey; mother, Almeda Ramsey of Port St. Lucie, Florida; children, Betty Chalfant (Brian) Schmelzer of Fernandina Beach, Florida, James (Beth) Chalfant of Lancaster, Leslie Chalfant-Reid of Columbus, and John (Erin) Ramsey of Sugar Grove; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Luther S. (Dot) Ramsey of Virginia, Kay (Andrew) Wong and Charlotte Behre both of Florida.
He has been preceded in death by father, Luther L. Ramsey and brother-in-law, Richard Behre.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Pastor Phyllis Fetzer officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio with the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail conducting military rites at the cemetery. Friends may call Friday, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
