Kenneth Hamilton Ballmer, 79, passed peacefully at Fairfield Medical Center on Thursday, December 22, surrounded by his loving family.
Kenneth was born in Fairfield County on October 4, 1937 and was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph E. and Mildred (Hamilton) Ballmer, sister and brother-in-law, Julia A. Wakeman and William H. Wakeman, and nephews, Stephen and Mark Wakeman. In addition to his wife of 44 years, Donna Ruth (McCullough) Ballmer, surviving are his nephew, Rich Wakeman, Clovis, New Mexico; “daughter” Jacqueline (Greg) Howard, Lancaster; Mark’s widow, Sue Wakeman, Surprise, AZ; great-nephew, Eric Wakeman, Flagstaff, AZ.; cousins, many dear friends and his beloved Australian Shepherd sidekick, Dolly.
A 1955 Carroll High School graduate, Ken continued his education to become a machinist at a Chicago trade school. He served in the United States Army from 1958 – 1960 and in the U. S. Army Reserves until 1964. He worked as a machinist for RCA (Thompson - Consumer Electronics) in Circleville from which he retired in 1998. He loved taking care of his yard, singing in the choir as well as being a member of the Heartwarmers and Altar Guild at 6th Avenue United Methodist Church. To know Ken was to know a friend.
On Saturday, January 7th a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM at 6th Avenue U. M. Church, 1004 W. Sixth Ave. Lancaster, Ohio, with Pastor: Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his honor may be given to the 6th Avenue U. M. Church Music Department, Heartwarmers, or Altar Guild, or charity of choice. His resting place will be the Stukey Cemetery, Old Logan Rd. near Sugar Grove, Ohio.
