Kathleen Mears

Biography

Kathleen L. Mears passed away on April 15, 2018 at age 69. She was born in Lancaster, Ohio to her parents Robert and Elaine and is survived by her sister Janice; brother-in-law, Andy Coen; niece, Meredith Coen; dear friends, Beth Becher, Rush Rogers and Mike West, and an extended family of cousins.

Kathy graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School and was a prolific writer, life-long learner and passionate advocate for the disabled. She spent the last 21 years living in nursing homes in the state of Ohio and for the last several years published a weekly blog in Long Term Living Magazine that gave a resident’s perspective on life in a managed care facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 132 S. High Street in Lancaster, Ohio 43130. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 9:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 1500 S. Broad Street in Lancaster. Arrangements are being handled by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Twig 3- Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
