Karen Shaeffer

Karen Kay Shaeffer, 74, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Pickering House.

Karen lived her life serving God, through helping others. She taught many lessons in life by her example and was always encouraging to everyone around her.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Pete Hoffmannbeck; granddaughters, Caitlin (Trey) Smith and Tasha Hoffmannbeck; great-grandson, Reilly Smith; sister, Warna (Bob) Slagle; nieces; nephews; and special caregiver friends, Dixie Byers and Cindy Harlan.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Shaeffer, Sr.; son, James F. Shaeffer, Jr.; father, Fred DeLong; mother, Vivian Poling; and grandparents, Carrie and Vernon Lynn.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. Columbus St, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Pastor Mark Barbee officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Baltimore. Friends may visit from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
