Julia A. (Ballmer) Wakeman 81 of Lancaster, Ohio formerly of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Bickford of Lancaster.
She was born on July 26, 1934 in Fairfield County, Ohio to the late Ralph and Mildred Hamilton Ballmer. She was an elementary school teacher, member of The First United Methodist Church, Rebecca Circle, Froebel Club, active in Boy Scouts in her early years, Lancaster Chorale supporter, Lancaster Festival volunteer and hostess for Fairfield Heritage Association at the Sherman House. Julia was a teacher in the West Side After School Program and loved teaching, reading and music.
She is survived by sons, Mark (Sue) Wakeman of Surprise, Arizona and Richard Wakeman of Clovis, New Mexico; grandson, Eric Wakeman of Flagstaff, Arizona; brother, Kenneth (Donna) Ballmer of Lancaster, Ohio; lifelong friend, Mary Graf Widener, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Wakeman and infant son, Stephen Wakeman.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Rev. Cheryl Foulk officiating. Caring Cremation® has taken place. A private service will be held at Forest Rose Cemetery. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
