Juanita G. Gobel

March 26, 1936 — March 9, 2025

Juanita G. Gobel, born on March 26, 1936, in the heart of Pickaway County, departed this life on March 9, 2025, at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio. She graced this world for 88 vibrant years, infusing life into every room she entered with her unapologetic spirit and unwavering commitment to love.

She was a woman of profound character—a spirited soul who was never afraid to voice her thoughts. Her opinions were as strong as her affection for those she cherished. Juanita was not one to harbor anger quietly; if she was mad, the world would know it. This boldness was complemented by a heart that knew no bounds. To her, everyone was a child deserving of maternal love, and she embraced this role effortlessly. Moms, grandmothers, babysitters—these were not merely titles for her, but badges of honor she wore proudly.

Her devotion to her church was an integral part of her identity. She found solace among the community, particularly during Vacation Bible School, where she not only taught but learned the values of faith and fellowship that she would carry throughout her life. Juanita was a vibrant thread in the tapestry of her community, always brimming with stories and gossip, knowing a little bit about everyone. While the details may not have been perfect, her insight into the lives around her reflected a keen desire to stay connected with her neighbors and loved ones.

In her simple pleasures, she found joy in everyday activities—like her cherished trips to Walmart, where her shopping list morphed into an exploration of aisles, sometimes revisiting the same paths as if each departure held a new discovery. Such moments illustrated her boundless curiosity and zest for life, qualities that filled even ordinary tasks with delight.

Juanita’s heart extended far beyond her immediate family. She poured her love into shoeboxes for the less fortunate, reaching across oceans to support those serving in the military. Her giving nature resonated deeply with everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, solidifying her legacy as a beacon of compassion.

She is survived by her son, Todd A. Gobel; daughters Ann Gobel and Vickie (Vince) Rager; stepdaughter Pam Osborne; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brothers Robert and John McCabe; and numerous nieces and nephews who carry remnants of her laughter and unforgettable tales.

Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Gobel; son William Gobel Jr.; daughtet Jettie Clark, stepson William Ray Gobel; as well as her cherished siblings: brother Dale McCabe, and sisters Jeanette Rihl, Darlene Payton, and Joann Neely. She grieves the loss of grandchildren Tabatha Dawn South and Larissa Clark, whom she adored and cherished.

In the hearts of those she loved, Juanita G. Gobel will forever remain a mother and grandmother to every child she encountered, a guardian of generosity, and an emblem of unwavering love. Her final rites will be held at Frank E Smith in Lancaster, Ohio, with visitation on Thursday March 13, from 2PM until 4PM and 6PM until 8PM. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday March 14, 2025 at 10:30 Am. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The warmth of her spirit will live on in those she left behind, a testament to a life that was thoroughly lived and loves deeply shared. Donations can be made in her name to the Good Shepherd Church 700 Spring St Lancaster, OH 43130. Online condolences can be made at www.funeralhome.com
