Josephine B. McDonald, 94, of Lancaster, died on Sunday, November 2, 2014. She was born December 29, 1919, in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late Paul R. Bissell Sr. and Mabel Corwin.
Josephine has been a resident of the Lancaster area since 1970. She was last employed at the Lancaster Health Department - Division of Vital Statistics and Big Brothers - Big Sisters. She was a member of the Sixth Avenue United Methodist Church.
Josephine was an animal activist and an environmentalist. She worked tirelessly for these causes. All domestic animals, wildlife, and nature had a devoted friend in Josephine.
Josephine is survived by her dear friend and helper, Roberta Cottrill; niece, Beverly Fields; special friends, Bill and Margaret Hines, Tom and Joanne Parrish, and Jean Might; her church family; dear pet, Trudi; and the great guys at Ohio Valley Outdoors Gun Range, who put up with her and dodged her wild bullets.
Caring Cremation has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster. Her ashes will be interred in the Bissell family plot in Bellefontaine Cemetery, Bellefontaine, Ohio. Josephine requested no service or visitation.
