Joseph M. Paumier

Joseph M. Paumier, 67 of Baltimore, Ohio died Monday, March 1, 2021 at The Ohio State University James Cancer Center surrounded by his family.  He was born June 16, 1953 in Roswell, New Mexico the son of Bernard and Jane Paumier.  A 1971 Liberty Union High School graduate then entered into the US Air Force and served his country for 24 years and retiring in New Mexico in 1995.

He moved back to Ohio in 2006 and worked as a Fairfield County substitute teacher for 15 years.  Joe enjoyed working on his parent’s farm, cutting wood, picking sweet corn, and the annual yard sale.  He was also known to sell “spider chasers” at the Thornville Craft Fair.  He was active in the church and VFW as an Honor Guard member.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Alicia Paumier and son, Joseph Paumier II; grandson, Jayden Paumier; father and mother, Bernard and Jane Paumier; brothers, Daniel and Thomas (Swan) Paumier; sister, Cathy (Frank) Domanski; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his life’s love, Debra Paumier, sister, Suzanne (Mike) Woodside, and brother, Michael Paumier.

Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Buckeye Lake, Ohio with Fr. William A. Hritsko officiating.  A live broadcast of the funeral service will be hosted On Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. on the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page. Caring Cremation® to follow.  Friends may visit Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 207 S. MAIN ST., BALTIMORE, OHIO 43105. In accordance with state mandates, COVID protocols including facial coverings and social distancing will be followed.
