John Henry Sedlock, 82, of Lancaster, passed away Monday evening, July 7, 2014. He was born August 8, 1931 in Columbus to Joseph and Hazel (Micheal) Sedlock. He was a 1949 graduate of Central High School and he served his country as member of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He attended Franklin University.
John was employed by Jeffrey Mining and Manufacturing for 28 years. He retired from The Ohio State University in 2000.
A former OSU Football usher. John was a member of Olivedale Senior Citizen Center and the Olivedale Veterans Organization. John was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, where he actively participated in Bible study and mens groups.
John is survived by his wife, Marjory Trishman; sons, John (Susan) Sedlock, Timothy (Jeanne Yungfleisch) Sedlock, Thomas Sedlock, Joseph (Delia) Sedlock, and Jeffrey (Laurel) Sedlock; stepchildren, Natalie (John) Furniss, Steven (Bobbie Ann) Spangler, Colleen Spangler, and Philip Spangler; grandchildren, Ricky Huffman, Christopher (Leslie) Waldo, Jeremy (Marissa) Evans, Katrina Waldo, Katrina (Lee) Munoz, Katy Yungfleisch, Emmerson Sedlock, Cory (Ashley) Sedlock, Ryan (Leisha) Sedlock, Nickolas Sedlock, Trevor Sedlock, Lillian Furniss, Jack Furniss, Madison Spangler, and Judah Spangler; and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Anna Mae (William) Martin and Shirley Hogan; brothers, Paul (Joanne) Sedlock and Robert Sedlock; and sister-in-law, Paulette Sedlock.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ella Margaret Peg; an infant son; and brothers, James, Joseph, and George Sedlock.
Memorial service for John will be held at 12:00 pm Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 222 N Broad St, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Reverend Matthew Richardson officiating. Family and friends may visit from 5-8 pm Thursday in the churchs Heritage Room. Burial Service will be held at 10:00 am Friday in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213.
