John C. Lewis 85 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Fairfield Medical Center.
He was born on January 3, 1927 in Rushville, Ohio to the late Fred B. and Ruth Keller Lewis.
John was a graduate of Rushville Union High School Class of 1945. A World War II US Army Air Corp. veteran. He started his career at Rushville Banking Co. then became a career agent with Paul Revere Insurance Co. In 1982, he founded Miller-Lewis Insurance Co. in Lancaster, Ohio.
He was a member of the Elks, Eagles and American Legion Post #11. His Hobbies was antiquing and collecting.
John is survived by his daughter, Candie Lewis of Lancaster, Ohio; brother, Robert (June) Lewis of Pickerington, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; his favorite canine, “Tippy”; special friends, Kent Miller, Dr. Terry Schultz and Don VanAtta; and numerous friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sue Ann Lewis, parents, sister, Mabel Scarborough, brothers, Fred Lewis Jr. and James P. Lewis, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd “Sheepie” and Marie McDaniel.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10:00 am in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST. LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Rev. Paul Wymer officiating. Burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio with the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail conducting military rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
