John "Whitey" Kerns

John P. “Whitey” Kerns 100 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at Lan-Fair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was co-owner of Doid Kerns and Son Roofing and Heating for 70 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
John is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Jim) Karr of Lancaster, Ohio; sons, Robert Z. Kerns of Lancaster, Ohio and Doid William Kerns of Hector, New York; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and Two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Davidson of Kettering, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilyan M. Kerns, parents, Doid and Nettie Kerns, brothers, Bud, Robert, Forest, Ed, and Howard Kerns, sisters, Mary Burnham and Gail Crook, and daughter-in-law, Wanda Kerns.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Emil H. Klatt, III officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Friends may visit Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
