John Hicks

John L. Hicks, 81, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011.

John served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Lancaster AMVETS and the V.F.W. He worked 22 years for American Standard in Columbus and 22 years for Diamond Power.

John is survived by his sons, Jeff (Sherry) Hicks and Kevin (Beth) Hicks; daughter-in-law, Teresa “Terri” Hicks; grandchildren, Amy Hicks, Austin Hicks, Brian Hicks, Brittany Hicks, and Heidi Brooks; sisters, Joan Schumacher, Evelyn Miller, June Norman, and Irene Vance; brothers, Bill White and Dick White; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his son, Rodger Hicks and brother, Carl White.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Reverend Harold Sturm officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster. Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Veterans Organization of the donor’s choice.
