John "Punkey" Grunewald

John “Punkey” Howard Grunewald, of Lancaster, passed away on May 11th, 2017. John was born in Seattle, Washington on February 24th, 1942 to the late Clark and Beryl Grunewald. When John was 8 years old, he and his family moved to Ohio. While in Ohio, John attended and graduated from Newark High School, and the Ohio Dominican College.

John had a long career which included teaching at the school of St. Thomas the Apostle & Immaculate Conceptions, and was a State Farm agent in Pickerington for 32 years.

John loved nature which included fishing and spending time at his cabin in Viton County. He was also a member of the Pickerington Historical Society.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Chinty; sons, Alex, Mick (Lisa), and Andy Grunewald; grandchildren, Henry, Lilly, Katie, Nate, and Grace; sisters, Claire Wright, Barbara Wellingham, and Gretchen (Gary) Harden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant daughter, Anna Marie Grunewald.

Burial will take place at Newark Memorial Gardens at a later date.
