JOHN E. CLUM age 92 of Thurston died Friday March 4, 2011 at the Pickering House. He was a member of the Thurston United Methodist Church and owned the former Wolfe Trucking Company. He was a member of the Sons of The American Revolution and was twice a Past Master and member of the Baltimore Masonic Lodge #475 F&AM, the Scottish Rite and the Tarhe Shrine Club. He was also an auctioneer for over 35 years, a 1936 graduate of Thornville High School, a member of the Rushville Lions Club, was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel and served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jane Clum; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Bob Rosier, Lancaster; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kathy Clum, Rushville; grandchildren, Laura A. (Larry) Watson, Rushville and John M. (Jodi) Clum, Alexandria, OH; great grandchildren, Bryan M. Watson, Chase A. Watson, Courtany Blevins and Emma G. Clum; brother, William M. (Miriam) Clum, Montgomery, MI. and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace E. and Bess B. Clum and a brother, Newt Clum.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 1:30 pm at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Baltimore with Rev. Dr. Rebeka Maples officiating. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Thornville where Baltimore VFW Post #3761 will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4; 6-8 pm at the funeral home. A memorial service by Baltimore Masonic Lodge will be Sunday at 3:45 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Thurston United Methodist Church or The Pickering House in Johns memory.
