John Curtis Baird 96 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Fairfield Medical Center. He was born on October 19, 1917 to the late Clarence and Sadie Tobin Baird in Lancaster, Ohio.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, 125 N. Eastwood Ave., Lancaster, Ohio. He worked as a bus driver, custodian, and maintenance at Bloom Carroll Schools for 26 years and lifelong farmer. He enjoyed working on 2 cylinder John Deer Tractors.
John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John Curtis and Denise Elaine Matthews Baird, Jr. of Lancaster, Ohio; two granddaughters, Melinda (Marvin) Mullett of Lancaster, Ohio and Karen Baird of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and one great-grandson, Jonathan Caleb Mullett. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ruth Helen Hedges and brother Walter A. Baird in 2014.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Amanda Twp. Cemetery, officiated by Richard Matthews, Minister of New Holland Church of Christ. Arrangements are being handled by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130.
