Johanna Martina Hansi Evener, 79, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012.
Born in Austria November 12, 1932, a child during WW II, she later fell in love and married an American G.I., came to America aboard the Andrea Doria with her husband and a year old son to live in Ohio.
Hansi was her known name to all who knew her. She worked at Shaws Restaurant for over 20 years and raised two children together with her husband Richard who will remember her always.
Preceded in death was her mother and father, Amalia and Johann Raab of Mondsee, Austria and granddaughter, Amy Evener of Lancaster, Ohio.
Survived by husband, Richard O. Evener; daughter, Christina L. Bing of Lancaster; son, Richard (Gail) W. Evener of Bremen; granddaughter, Tiffany Bing of Lancaster; sister, Christl, husband Hansi; brothers, Ludwig, wife Herta and Kurt, wife Roswitha all of Austria. She also leaves behind many relatives in Ohio, North Carolina, and Austria as well as countless friends that she cherished throughout her life.
A prolific knitter and crocheter, she created hundreds of sweaters, afghans, and especially her favorite baby blankets that she made for Twig to warm all of the newborns at Fairfield Medical Center.
Per her wishes there will be no calling hours and after a private family farewell, cremation will take place.
In lieu of flowers she would be honored to have friends and family share their memories in a casual celebration this Thursday, April 26th from 6-8 pm at the VFW 1516 Post, 116 Perry St, Lancaster, Ohio.
A special thank to her Angels (her healthcare aides), Fairfield Medical Center, Barb and Jacque Gray, Dr. Larry Doss, Cindy Morrison, and the Pickering House for their kindness to our family.
