Joe Spires, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2022. Joe was born to the late Joseph and Mary Spires in Lancaster on July 14, 1937.

Joe was a proud paratrooper for the United States Army. He was an avid Ohio State, Browns, and Reds fan. He also enjoyed playing cards and horse racing.

Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Karen Spires; sons, Shon (Pam) Spires, Curt (Tonya) Spires, and Todd (Stacy) Spires; grandchildren, Ashlee (Jerrid) Karns, Cody (Oakley) Spires, Tyler Spires, Morgan Spires, Sarah Gloyer, Jacob Gloyer, Lance (Erin) Spires, Ali (Jason) Kiss, and Mitch (Danielle) Spires; great grandchildren, Jack, Lucy, Halle, Harper, Kelty, Keller, and Granger; siblings, Frank (Darleen) Spires, Rudy Spires, and Linda (Cecil) Peters; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Carl Spires; brother-in-law, Ray Burris; and parents.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 12 PM in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, OH 43130. Burial will take place at a later date in Greenfield Twp. Cemetery, Carroll. Family and friends may visit from 10-12 PM on Saturday.
