Jo Ann Swinehart

Jo Ann (Watson) Swinehart, 88, of Pleasantville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Fairfield Medical Center. She was born on April 26, 1936, to the late Gerold and Bertha (Anderson) Watson.

Jo Ann retired from Pleasantville Elementary School, where she worked as a secretary for 40 years. She was a 70-year member of the Parthenia Chapter 124 Order of the Eastern Star, a former member of New Salem United Methodist Church, and a former member of Farm Bureau Council #16 Pleasant Grange.

Jo Ann is survived by her children, Mark Richard (Cindy) Swinehart and Gregory Lee (April) Swinehart; son-in-law, Randy Hite; 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Bertha Watson; husband of 63 years, James Richard Swinehart; daughter, Brenda Sue Hite; brother, Gerald Richard Watson and infant brother, Charles Watson. 

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, 207 S. Main Street, Baltimore OH 43105. Friends and family may visit on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 pm. Burial will take place following the service on Saturday at New Salem Cemetery.
