Jo Ann Brown

Jo Ann Brown, 86, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at the Pickering House.

She was a former member of the First Church of the Nazarene and she enjoyed camping and traveling. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School class of 1950. She and her husband, Harold, provided a loving home for 26 years to over 300 foster children.

She is survived by her daughters, Vickie A. (David L.) Hill of South Carolina and Susan L. (Mike) Roth of Lancaster; son, H. David (Christy) Brown of Georgia; grandchildren, David (Lori) Hill, Mark (Thanchanok) Hill, Rikki (Charlie) Golden, and Shane (Jessica) Roth; great grandchildren, Kelsey Hill, David “Boo” Hill, Christian Golden, and Hunter Golden; great great granddaughter, Myila Golden; sister, Mary (Alvin) Howdyshell; brother-in-law, Paul Brown; sister-in-law, Mary Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Brown; mother, Pluma Haines; and father, Virgil Haines.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Mark Barbee officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to a children’s charity of choice or the Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
