Born in Marietta, Ohio, Jimmie had fond memories of life on the farm with her grandmother Nellie on Siley’s hill. She was a 1957 graduate of Lancaster High School and was employed as an office worker for Essex Wire Corp, Lancaster, after graduation. She was married and moved to New Jersey to raise her family with the late George H. Silberzahn. She started her career when her children entered school. She worked at the Gloucester County Times and became a district sales manager for USA Today in the tri-state area of Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey before returning to Fairfield County, Ohio where she reunited with her high school sweetheart. She became the advertising director at the Midweek Fairfield Leader, a member of the Lancaster Sertoma club serving the local community, and a Coachman with the local Chamber of Commerce. Jimmie also owned her own business, the Wildwood General Store in Logan, Ohio, providing essentials for campers and hikers visiting the beautiful Hocking Hills area she called home. Eventually, she retired and returned to her children in New Jersey in 2016 where she enjoyed many family events, holidays, new friendships and new adventures.
