Jimmie L. Mathias, age 85 of Baltimore, died January 2nd, 2021 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born to the late Walter and May Kane Mathias in Baltimore on September 6th, 1935. He retired from Tectum in Newark where he was a purchasing agent. He was a member of "The Grove Community Christian Church" and was a former elder at the original Midway Christian Church. Jimmie was an OSU, Liberty Union, and Youngstown State fan who enjoyed cooking soup beans, and woodworking. He volunteered at foundation diners and loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary G. Mathias; children, Christi Hicks, and Craig (Brenda) Mathias; grandchildren, Kyle, Kara, and Kori Hicks, Shelby (Scott) Sparks, and Garrett Mathias, great grandchildren, Brecken and Bennett Schenkel; siblings, Donna Jean Webb, Ronald Mathias, and Paul Mathias; many nieces and nephews and his grand dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cathi Mathias; son-in-law, Jack Hicks, and seven siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jimmie's name to either Columbus Arthritis Association, 1211 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215 or American Heart Association 3816 Paysphere Circle Chicago, IL 60674.
A funeral service will take place this Thursday at 2:30PM at the Johnson-Smith funeral Home. Immediate family and close friends may call from 130PM until the time of service.
