Jean Wharton

Jean A. Wharton, 85, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Fairfield Medical Center.

Jean was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Susan (Austin) Hobbs of Vero Beach, Florida; sons, John (Joyce) Wharton of Athens and Tom (Gay) Grandstaff of Lancaster; daughter-in-law, Pam Wharton of Lancaster; grandchildren, Bryan Wharton, Brad Wharton, Tony Coles, Kimberley Nauman, Brittany Fox, Robert Grandstaff, Jennifer Wharton, Robert C. Wharton III, and Dorian Hobbs; eleven great grandchildren; and sisters, Mary (Robert) McBride of South Bend, Indiana and Joyce (Norman) Brunn of Orange Park, Florida.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Robert C. Wharton II; parents, Lloyd and Irene Stein; a brother; and sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N Columbus St, Lancaster, Ohio, with Reverend Roger Quay officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends may visit from 2-4 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made in Jean's memory to the Salvation Army Samaritan Center, 228 West Hubert Ave. Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
